New job - Research Practitioner |
We are seeking to appoint Research Practitioners to join our team of research staff supporting clinical research studies in acute and hyperacute stroke. Salford Royal hosts the Comprehensive Stroke Centre for Greater Manchester and, as such, receives acute stroke patients from across the conurbation, most of who are repatriated to local hospitals within 24 hours. It will, therefore, be necessary for staff at the Hyperacute Stroke Research Centre to work closely with NHS trusts across Greater Manchester.
Based at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, you will support the Hyperacute Stroke Research Centre Team Leader, the Network Manager and the Lead Research Nurse in facilitating stroke research across Greater Manchester. You will also support the Clinical Lead of the Hyperacute Stroke Research Centre in developing the centre and integrating it into the clinical work of the trust. You will independently identify, screen and recruit research participants by assessing physical, psychological and social suitability and ensuring that Informed Consent is obtained. You will collect and enter data relating to clinical studies and maintain study site files.
You will be a registered nurse or AHP with relevant clinical experience and some experience of clinical research. Experience in acute stroke care would be a distinct advantage. You will need to demonstrate a willingness to work across organisations and within a multidisciplinary research environment. You will be expected to participate in an out-of-hours rota to provide evening and weekend research practitioner cover for hyperacute studies.
The appointment will be for a period 1 year in the first instance. Subject to agreement by your employer, this could be as a secondment.
